The Best Part of Summer

Here in Tucson, it is monsoon season! That means a couple times a week, hopefully, we get random thunderstorms and rainy downpours. These storms cool things off considerably, flood everything, and occasionally knock out the power. This means that it is the best thing to ever happen to a Tucson July! Lee did a little filming of the first big storm that came our way:

Paul will happily sit and stare out the window if the rain is really coming down hard. So far he isn't scared of the thunder, though it's the loudest I've ever heard in my life.

In other exciting news, Paul wants to give you a big smile so he can show off his newest accomplishment:

Hopefully you can see the little stublets that are Paul's first teeth. He's been grumpy enough about growing them and he's started really using them, mostly for biting me. Really hard. Happy Monsoons!

Crawly 4th of July

We celebrated our nations independence with burgers, rifftrax, and Paul declaring his own independence in his sudden accelerated interest in crawling. Earlier this week he was barely struggling along like this:

It only took another day or so to get to this slightly more coordinated effort:

And now he suddenly has the energy to crawl all around the house! Paul was surprisingly okay with fireworks. A little scared at first, but he got used to them. Our sweet little neighbor Kate gave me a lot to look forward to in how excited she was about the fireworks. Hopefully Paul is equally as enthusiastic in a couple years. Here Lee and Paul are excitedly waiting to start lighting things on fire!

And lastly, we share our new soothing technique for our worked up little guy:
