Museums, Musicals, and Camping

It is spring. And I haven't updated this family activity journal for about six months. Remember Christmas? Here's a reminder:

Arthur turned TWO on Christmas Eve. We celebrated with a big family lunch party and then visiting the Hogle Zoo.

The thing about the Zoo in the winter time, is some of the animals are having so much fun in the cold weather. The Polar Bear, for instance, was having a blast.

The kids got fun gifts from Aunties, Uncles, and Grandparents, boring presents from Mom and Dad, and delicious chocolates from Caga Tio.

Here's what we've been up to so far this year:

In January we took the kids to the Hill Air Force Base Museum. It's free and it's pretty cool!

Laszlo was really into learning about the different planes. He wanted me to read all the signs to him. Paul has been here before on a field trip, so he was a bit less enthusiastic.

In February, we took advantage of free fare week to do some fun activities near the train stations. There are quite a few free museums around these parts, the Clark Planetarium is a wonderful place to lay and learn. Paul begged to stay longer, that's how good it is.

The planetarium isn't too big, and it's a good mix of hands on exhibits and video game type exhibits. It was the perfect place for our boys!

A not free (but fairly inexpensive) museum: The Utah State Railroad Museum at Union Station in Ogden. There are so many fun activities for kids of all ages.

In March, we hit up the Utah Natural History Museum. It started out as a big hit, but the kids got very tired very quickly.

The Angkor Wat touring exhibit was especially cool to me, but the kids were pretty done by the time we got to that. So it was time for pizza.

We took them to The Pie, which they were too tired and cranky to appreciate. They were also convinced it was a shady place because you are allowed and encouraged to write on the walls there.

We got quite a few snow storms all winter and well into the spring. Here is our March snow man. They named him Jaron:

I got to be in Roald Dahl's Matilda: The Musical this spring. It was a total blast! Here's a few photos of our production, taken by our official photographer Micah.

While I was doing a weekend's worth of shows, Lee and the kids went with the Grandparents and met up with their California cousins in Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada.

After a tiring and chilly camping trip, the kids came home exhausted. We finally had a warm Saturday, and we spent the time on an Easter egg hunt.

And that sums up this winter and spring. It doesn't sum it up very well, but as you can see we were rather busy.
