Happy Birthday, Enjoy the Hospital Bill!

We've had an...interesting spring. Some highs, some lows, just lots going on. Let's start off with the fun stuff! Celebrating my birthday at Universal Studios with Grandpa Dave and Grandma Karen:

The raptor encounter made Paul a little nervous. Apparently the dinosaur on his shirt was upsetting Blue.

He's not scared of Dracula, though! He is practically snuggling with him! Both kids were excited to meet Optimus Prime, or as Laszlo calls him "Rescuebot!"

We stopped for pizza before spending the evening stuck in traffic (c'est la vie!) and Paul got hold of my phone so he could photograph us all eating. I think he must have learned to take pictures from his Grandpa Duane.

Fast forward a couple weeks, and we are in St. George. That infamous, ill fated St. George trip. Take a look at these pictures. Look at Laszlo. Within 24 hours he will have visited the urgent care, then taken by ambulance to the ER, and then checked into the pediatric ward where we would spend 3 nights.

Knowing what I know now about how sick he was getting, these pictures are a bit painful to look at. That is the face of pneumonia. The staff at the hospital was wonderful and kind and we got extra help from family who helped take care of Paul and arrange a place for us to sleep. We all survived and Laszlo made a full and very quick recovery. I hope this trip remains our most expensive family vacation ever for many more years to come.

Hospital rules say no carrying kids around.
It's a liability. Here is they're adorable work
around: the discharge wagon!

In better news, Paul got a "Science Award" at school. I don't know what it is for, Paul doesn't know either, and he was a little disappointed that the award was just this piece of paper. We took him out for ice cream to celebrate and I think that helped. We're proud even if we're not sure why.

Thus concludes a brief review of the misadventures of March. April was just as busy but involved zero medical emergencies. I am excited to share our double spring break adventures will you!
