Fall Break

The kids had a few days off from school, so we took the opportunity to have some fun. First off was Antelope Island with Noelle and Grandma Jamie.

We hiked to Buffalo Point, which is quite a short hike (but uphill). The reward is commanding views of the Lake. More importantly, hundreds of boulders to climb on, hide in, and otherwise play around for hours at a time.

Arthur didn't need as much help as I thought he would, but definitely more than he thought he should. Between the two of us, we did our best to keep up with the brothers and cousin.

After the final soccer game of the season, we headed down to "camp" in Green River. We first visited the museum all about the history of the Green River and expedition. In the basement they had some dinosaur fossil. Can you tell which kid was having a good time?

After the checking into our "camp" site, we got some delicious tacos and played at a nearby park.

After a night of "camping" we headed to our main destination of the weekend: Goblin Valley.

Exploring around the hoodoo and looking for little caves and canyons is a blast.

It was a sunny day and got pretty warm, so we tried not to push ourselves too hard and stay in the shade at every opportunity.

I made sure we had our laser tag guns with us; a move that one passersby called "pure genius". It certainly made the day a little more fun for the kids.

After lunch, we took a little rest break at the visitors center so we could work on Junior Ranger activities. Late in the afternoon, our Johnson cousins joined us. The kids got their second wind, and another round of laser tag commenced.

After playing hard for an entire day, we went back to the "camp" site for roasted hot dogs, marshmallows, and Dutch oven. Then we said good bye to our cousins and settled down to sleep. It was a short, sweet trip. Goblin Valley is such a fun and interesting place to visit, I'd recommend checking it out sometime, but do bring your laser tag guns!
