Satiric Publicity is Good Publicity

I am continually intrigued by the kind of publicity the church gets. Whether it is because of a Tony award winning musical, presidential elections, or a really crappy book series, Mormons and the news are going to be spending a lot of time together in the next little while.
I would like to share my favorite piece of publicity that the church has recieved:

I hope you all learned something. Tigers can be Catholic.

  1. That was pretty good. And I am a Mormon.

  2. I actually hate when LDS people use the word "Mormon" to describe themselves. (It's kind of like when black people use the "N" word when talking to each other.) It was used as a derogatory slur in the 19th century and should be discarded now.

  3. It's too deeply embedded in the American culture's understanding to take out now. Most don't even know that's not our official name. Colbert was lying, that tiger was not Catholic. Everyone knows that all tigers religious affiliations belong to Kellogs Frosted Flakes because they're grrrreat.
